I managed to get some shots of the sunset last night – it looks Idylic but the reality is that it has rained heavily every afternoon/ evening (except the two sunset days) with a couple of violent thunderstorms – it is the rainy season after all!

Costa Rica does not have all four seasons. Instead, it has only two. Because it is so close to the equator, the “summer” months are actually from December to April, while the “winter” months are from May to November. The better names for these seasons are the rainy and dry seasons.

Costa Rica Gets 12 Hours of Sunshine

Sunrise is approximately 5:30 am daily and sunset is around 6:00 pm. This is because Costa Rica is positioned roughly 10 degrees north of the equator, which makes the sunrise and sunset stay fairly consistent all-year-round!

Because Costa Rica is so close to the equator, the sun sets quickly, and at roughly the same time all year. The earliest sunsets of the year happen just after 5 PM and the latest of the year happen just after 6 PM.
