Turtle Release

This morning we went to Tortuga Beach to release an adult turtle who had been injured by a fishing hook through its jaw. She had an operation and was now rehabilitated and ready for release.

We actually got DRIVEN down the muddy path that we usually have to negotiate in the dark by foot. It was actually nice to see the scenery around and also the beach which is so beautiful in the daylight.

There were conservationists, a photographer and local people involved with the turtles there. The rehabilitation centre brought the turtle in a box covered with damp towels.

The Turtle was keen to get back into the sea. We don’t know whether she will be able to nest again one day, but for now she needs to finish her recovery.
