Jungle Trek

Yesterday we did a trek through the nearby jungle to look for evidence of bats and to water the mangrove plants with salt water from the sea.

There is a plant which is taking over so they need the mangroves to stop these plants spreading. However they are slow growing so going to be a few years before they make a difference.

It was so humid and the terrain a bit hazardous for an older person like me – so I had to have a helping hand on a few occasions – especially when crossing the river which was full of uneven stones! 😬

We saw more capuchin monkeys who were curious about us at first but then got cross and shook the trees and showed us angry faces so we moved on.

Earlier in the morning we heard and saw the howler monkeys right near our base. We also saw Mccaws flying over, capuchin monkeys and an eagle

Can you spot the eagle? He’s very well camouflaged
