This morning at 1.30am I headed down to the beach where the turtles nest with 3 others. It was quite a trek to get there including wading through a stream, Then once we were there we turned our torches off and let our eyes adjust to the light . We walked up and down the beach a couple of times (not a small beach) looking for evidence of turtle activity.

We would walk for 15 mins then rest for 15 mins. Whilst we were doing this an awesome sight was around us and above us ; the sea was rough and the sound of the waves crashing ; above the sea a storm far away but lighting up the sky every few minutes. The stars so bright and we saw a meteorite and some shooting stars. Honestly it felt like I was somewhere else other than Planet Earth – another dimension!

Then to top all that we found a nest – we just missed the mother😔

I dug up 84 eggs which were still warm

We then took them to the hatchery where they can hatch out safely and be taken to the sea

I think I may have walked about 6 miles last night! Exhausted 😌🥱

I will be doing a beach shift most days and at that rate I will become extra fit and lose about 2 stone 😳🚶‍♀️
